Let’s say you wanted to rename some of your Sales entities from ‘Account’ to ‘Client’ and ‘Contact’ to ‘Non-Client’ to adjust better to your business. To edit an entity and its view is actually quite simple.
RENAME CATEGORIES (FORMS) IN THE NAVIGATION BAR
1.Click on Microsoft Dynamics CRM> Settings> Customizations> Customize the System
You will have a new window appear that looks like this. This is where you can customize all of your entities along with some other settings.
2.From the left navigation bar expand the Entities folder > Expand the Accounts folder > Click Forms > Double-click Account (Form Type= Main) > Form Properties
3. Click the Display tab and rename the Form Name to ‘Client’ and adjust the description > Click OK > Save > Publish (If you don’t publish your changes, they will not appear on the form.)
4. Repeat steps 1-3 to change ‘Contacts’ to ‘Non-Clients’, expanding the Contacts folder instead.
5. To see our changes, go back to Microsoft Dynamics CRM > Sales> Hover over Sales
EDIT VIEW NAMES
1. Click on Microsoft Dynamics CRM> Sales> Clients > Expand the Views List
Notice: All of the views still show ‘Accounts’ so we want to change them to show ‘Clients’.
2. Click the Ellipses > Customize Entity (Easier way to get to the Client entity customization page)
Notice that you are brought directly to the Client Entity.
3. Click Views> Double-click the view you want to rename [Active Accounts] > Click View Properties > Rename the view to ‘Active Clients’ and add a description > Click OK> Save & Close
4. Repeat step 3 to rename all of the views from Account to Client.
5. When done renaming all of the views for both Client and Non-Client, remember to click Publish All Customizations.
Now that you’re done, check out your changes by refreshing your Client and Non-Client pages and clicking on your System Views.
